The Cowichan Sportsplex is the pride and joy of the Chesterfield Sports Society. We are a non-profit organization that had a vision to build a facility that would benefit all ages and abilities through sports, recreation and friendship. The support we receive through the community continues to be imperative to our organization. Individuals, businesses, community sports organizations, service clubs and government have all worked with us to achieve our vision.
Field Hockey Turf
The turf field at the Sportsplex is a high quality, fully lit, water based artificial surface. It provides a fast and consistent playing surface that supports clubs, schools, and tournaments
Multi-Sport Box
The multi sport box at the Sportsplex is a fully lit, hard surface space designed to support a range of activities including lacrosse, ball hockey, basketball, and pickleball.
Outdoor Fitness Equipment
Accessible outdoor fitness equipment for all ages and abilities, conveniently located near the Beverly Street entrance at the Cowichan Sportsplex.
Baseball Fields
Our well-maintained baseball diamonds host league play, tournaments, youth programs, and community events, and are also used by a local slo-pitch league. A welcoming space for athletes of all ages to connect, compete, and enjoy the game.
Black Walking Path
The black walking path at the Cowichan Sportsplex is a 660m rubberized fitness loop designed for walking, running, and general exercise. It provides a soft, safe and accessible space to stay active.
Field House
The Field House provides modern and accessible amenities that support daily operations and user groups at the facility. It includes public washrooms, change rooms, multi-purpose room, kitchen. Perfect for athletes, families, and event organizers.
8 Lane Rotary Track
A high quality Olympic style 8 lane running track for running, training, and competition. The track supports casual community use and organized athletic programs.
Nature Walking Path
A scenic nature walking path winding around a pond and wooded area, featuring a gentle stream, footbridges with sponsored planks, native plants, and abundant bird life.
Bev Lashman Playground
A fun, safe, family-friendly playground designed for children to explore, play, and build confidence. Features accessible play structures and plenty of room to move.

We are proud to be considered a world class sports and recreation center, located in one of the most beautiful communities in the world. We have been proudly operating under the Non-profit organization, Chesterfield Sports Society for 30 years to keep our facilities running efficiently and ethically. Although we have worked relentlessly to keep our doors open to our amazing community, your support is key to our operations in maintaining and innovating at the Sportsplex. Thanks to you, we’ve improved our track, replaced the old and worn out artificial turf, created the Legacy Fitness Circuit and hosted a multitude of world-class events.

Can Family & Friends use the facilities for free?
Use of the Cowichan Sportsplex is guided by our Facility Use Policy, which ensures fair and consistent access for all users. Organized use, including games, practices, and league play, requires a booking and is subject to rental fees. Unorganized, casual drop in use is free during available times and does not require a booking, provided the space is not already reserved.
What insurance do I need?
All renters must provide proof of at least $2 million liability insurance with the Chesterfield Sports Society and the Municipality of North Cowichan named as additional insured.
Can I get a liquor license for my event?
Yes. The event organizer is responsible for obtaining the appropriate liquor licenses and ensuring proper insurance coverage is in place. All requests are reviewed in advance to ensure they align with safety standards and approved use of the facility.
Are there rules for using the track?
The 8 lane Rotary Track is designated for walking, running, and athletic training only. Bikes, e-bikes, scooters, skateboards, and similar wheeled equipment are not permitted on the track surface in order to protect its condition and ensure user safety. These types of activities are permitted on the black walking path, which is better suited for wheeled use.
What is the distance around the track?
On the inside lane, the track measures 400m or 1/4 mile. The outside lane is an addition 50 metres.
What is the distance around Legacy Fitness Path?
The rubber path measures 660m or .4 miles
Can I walk my dog at the Sportsplex?
Yes, dogs are welcome on the fitness path and on the roadways but not in the playground or on any of our playing surfaces. Always leash and clean up after your dog.
