It’s hard to believe how far we have come since the Chesterfield Sports Society was formed in 1996. The main impetus came in 1989 when the track at the high school was closed for competition. The community started meeting to talk about what sports facilities were needed. The whole community came together and now we have a world class sports and recreation facility that we can all be very proud of. Our Sportsplex has become the heart of our healthy community in so many ways.

In 2019, the Cowichan Sportsplex will be a high quality unique regional sports, fitness and recreation center that is proudly embraced, supported and cherished by a majority of our growing community. Through mutually beneficial relationships, we will have secured the resources to be sustainable. This includes a broad volunteer base and strong relationships with our members, our community and governments. The physical facilities will be enhanced to include such things as an athlete’s center and a new maintenance building.
